How Do I Know If The Realtor Did Any Work On My Rental ...

questions

Q: I have applied for a rental home. I competed with other five applicants. I received a call later from the Realtor, saying that other applicant got the house. The Realtor never provided me a copy of my credit or report or any work done with my application fee. Are the Realtors required to (or upon request) provide the applicant evidence of the work done? The applicant has no evidence of any work done by the Realtor, and this makes them lose credibility.

A: Depending on where you are, they may or may not be required to provide you with a copy of your credit report. You can request in writing a letter from them stating that you were denied based on your credit report. You can then take that letter and send it to the credit bureaus and get a copy of your report. You can also get a free copy of your report from annualcreditreport.com. This is the only official site for actually free credit reports. All the others require a credit card. I would talk to the agent?s broker to try and work it out this way. You have a right to know why you were denied. If you don?t have any luck there, try the local real estate board. Good luck.
